Updates & Band Promo Images

On April 25, 2010 by vard

Spending this rainy Sunday editing and getting things around for next week; the last few have been a whirlwind of activity.  I think summer showing up early put things into high gear before I was ready.  Oh well…”here’s to being busy” I guess!  :D

The Berwick Mural Project got underway fully this weekend with the start of Alley Art.  I made it for about an hour and a half of painting, but Connie and a few others put in some spirited 6+ hours of constant painting.  The wall is fully primed and things are moving on that.  It’s cool watching this come together.  Connie has put a tenacious pile of effort and time into making sure this moved forward.  Congrats to my main homie! :D

This Wednesday night is also the first of the Small Group classes we’re holding in the studio in the coming weeks.  There’s 1 seat left in each of the 3 evenings if anyone is interested.  Connie and I are pretty excited to be doing these.  She gets to host, I get to jibjab about photography all night – it’s like when peanut butter & jelly first hooked up!

Here’s a few band shots from recent…always enjoy working with musicians.  Mixing arts is becoming a new hobby for me I think.

Like these guys do – Rock on!

A quick thank you to everyone that stopped down for the www.300AlmostNakedPeople.com teaser video we shot last week at A Perfect Blend.  Between the test shooting on Wednesday and the real deal on Thursday we got a pile of cool footage.  Annie B. rocked the editing and the vid is currently with Andy Z. for audio and sound effects.  The plan, right now, is to have it posted Sunday morning for anyone interested in checking it out.  We’re getting to work on a 90-120 second promo piece in the next week or so…drop me a line if you’re interested in taking part in that.

I really appreciate everyone that’s been getting involved in this.  It’s all about having fun and putting to use the amazing skills and talents of the people I come into contact with every day.  It doesn’t take much to make life way more interesting…get up, get out and DO IT!

READ THIS SECOND

The images linked here depict artistic representations of nude bodies.  If this type of art offends you, please DON’T look.  I respect that it might not be for everyone – to each their own, right?  Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Every once in a while I get to stop working and try something different.  These three shoots definitely fall into that category.  I’ve wanted to do some body paint shots for a while now, but the logistics of getting willing participants, at least a partially baked idea and of course an artist all together at the same time makes it a tad challenging.  Again, with just about everything I shoot, I learn a TON of stuff when we’re pushing the boundaries a bit.  Like, make sure the room is TOO warm…cause people standing around naked will get cold after 3+ hours, pretty much for sure.  Ellie and Steph are total champs all the way, and a HUGE thank you goes out to Olivia Jacobs for her rockin paint skills and patience.  Working with all 3 of these awesome people was a great experience.

And Kat was back for more makeup fun, this time on the ‘human discoball’ glitter shoot that Courtney and I have been hitting around for a while.  We rocked a totally awesome set of images and everyone walked away pretty stoked about this one.  And lastly, thank you to Connie and Corry for all their help with Courtney’s shoot – it is mucho appreciated!

…and yes, the studio DOES look like fairy’s exploded here…gotta love me some glitter! :D

Enjoy!

Teaser Commercial Bodies Needed

On April 5, 2010 by vard

Hey…just a quick post asking for help from anyone with a few minutes on their hands. This Thursday evening starting at 6:30pm a couple of us are getting together down at A Perfect Blend during their Open Mic Nite to shoot a little footage for the 300AlmostNakedPeople.com project teaser video.  We need people willing to stand still for a few seconds.  We’re shooting body parts for a montage clip that we’ll be posting on YouTube and on the project sight.  If anyone is interested in being part of this, show up!  Shoulders, legs, hips, feet…etc.  That sort of thing. (Just to cover my butt, you gotta be 18 to play along…thanks for understanding)

Connie (who can be reached at 570-578-9412) will also have some info about the Berwick Mural Project, and an opportunity for you to paint something THURSDAY NIGHT @ A Perfect Blend in support of the project.  Painting starts in Euclid Alley on Saturday, April 24th.  Hope to see you at Open Mic Nite on Thursday for more info.

That’s about it…if you’re interested, we’ll see you there…if not, thanks for reading anyway!  :D

April Fool’s Hijinks

On April 1, 2010 by vard

Man I had some fun today.  For four years I’ve wanted to pull what I thought would be one hell of a funny April Fool’s Day prank: making it look like A Perfect Blend, my mother-in-law’s coffee shop here in Berwick, PA, was closed and out of business.  For four years all I’ve ever done was wish I was doing it.  This year I finally made the decision to just get it done.  Last night Connie & I stopped in and covered the entire front window area of the shop with newspapers and hung an ‘Out of Business’ sign on the front door.  We also tethered a video cam pointed outside to a T.V. on the inside.  The idea here was to be able to see the expressions of the locals walking up for their morning fix, as well as a way for me to see outside so I’d be able to run down anyone that ACTUALLY thought we were closed.

It worked better than I could have ever imagined.  All day long we were able to enjoy the hilarious expressions on people as the thought of the shop actually be gone from their daily routines crossed their lost faces.  Slightly evil, perhaps, but everyone enjoyed the laugh and seemed to have a lot of fun.  The newspaper and T.V. station showing up was an unexpected bonus as well. :D

I’ll file this in my war chest of examples I use when people tell me they have nothing to do, or that there’s nothing to do in this town.  Make your fun.  Be bold, do something…but never stop having fun!  Thank you Mary Lou for letting me do this.  I really appreciate the chance to mess with so many people!  :D

Rock On!
