Highland Games ’09

Every time I sit down to blog I realize how much I suck at blogging.  Once a month!?  Gimme a break!

There…just took a second and added a weekly blog alarm to my ever filling schedule.  So that’s the plan…to implement a weekly update on what’s going on.  1 a week isn’t my goal…it’s a minimum…if I can get a few more in from time to time, even better.

Anyway, I took a little time from editing my brains out to get together with some of my closest friends out at BriggsFarm.  Yes, the same place we enjoy our ‘start of summer’ blues festival.  Basically it goes like this;  Richard Briggs kicks everything off in July with what we refer to as BriggsFest (but what is actually called The Briggs Farm Blues Festival – just in case you’re Googling for more info on it).  After 12 years it has become a necessity on our annual calendar of fun stuff to do right here in NEPA.  Last year, Dylan, Richard’s son, decided it was time to add a summer closer to our farm party’s.  That gave birth to The Highland Games.  It’s nothing like BriggsFest, which plays host to thousands of people and a dozen blues artists over two days.  The Highland Games focus’s on eating, drinking, hanging out with awesome people and having a good time.  Ok, well, when described as such it’s exactly like BriggsFest, but WAY smaller, and only takes up 1 day of your life.  They differ in that BriggsFest is all about music, whereas The Highland Games is about throwing really heavy stuff very little distance and being very proud of it.

Doesn’t matter what really happens (although I can say from recent personal experience that it’s less fun to be on a team that is getting pounded on {and coincidentally, even worse when you’re pretty sure you’re the weakest link on the team}).  Anywho, everyone always has a rad time.  Just the way it should be.

The gnarly mohawked gent in these first three images is our fun master Mr. Dylan Briggs.

Braemar Rock On!

As of late

Holy crap, I’ve been trying to get a post up for DAYS!  Easier said than done, mostly because I’m a bit of a perfectionist.  I can’t help it…oh well.

Here’s a few from last weekend at Rickett’s Glen with the crew.  The Zourides Brothers rocked out a goofy lighting experiment, and we all had a great time.  And then there’s Beth and the water shots.  Every time I work underwater I learn a million new things.  Same here.  I can’t tell you what I learned…well, I could, but then I’d have to kill you…which would be a challenge at the very least!  :P  It’s fun, it’s really challenging and always educational…

Enjoy!

So Briggsfest came and went in the usual blur no one ever seems quite ready for.  We look forward to it ever year like it’ll never get here and it happens so fast you’re impatiently waiting for it again before the weekend is out.  A quality business model on the part of Mr. Briggs!

Here’s a few from the weekend…nothing special, just a great time with great music and great people.
